Job summary

Wan Sern Metal Industries Sdn Bhd in Gelang Patah, Johor, is seeking a welder to perform MIG and TIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Read fabrication drawings and prepare materials with precision in a clean, safe environment.

You will set up welding machines, select suitable parameters, and carry out fitting, tack welding and final welds to meet production requirements. A 1–2 year welding background is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of MIG/TIG welding experience.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and interpret welding details.
• Capable of basic cutting, grinding, and fabrication work.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG & TIG welding for various materials according to drawings.
• Set up welding machines and select appropriate parameters.
• Carry out welding, fitting, tack welding, and final welds.
• Prepare materials including cutting, grinding, and surface prep.
• Ensure weld quality meets dimensions and appearance; complete finishing.
• Maintain welding equipment and wear PPE; keep work area clean.

Job description

Perform MIG & TIG welding for Mild steel, Stainless steel and aluminium welding

Read and understand fabrication drawings, dimensions and welding details

Set up welding machines and select suitable welding parameters according to material and thickness

Carry out welding and fabrication according to approved drawings and production requirements

Perform fitting, alignments, tack welding and final welding of the product

Prepare materials before welding – including cutting, grinding, cleaning and surface preparation

Ensure welds meet the required quality, dimensions and appearance

Perform grinding, polishing and finishing of welded areas where required

Handle different welding requirements for mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium

Maintain welding machines, tools and equipment in good working condition

Follow all company safety procedures and wear the required PPE

Keep the welding and fabrication area clean and organised

Report any material, drawing, welding or quality issues to the supervisor.

Assist with other fabrication work when needed

Job Requirement

Minimum 1 – 2 years of welding experience as welder (MIG & TIG welding) is preferred

Can start work immediately or in one month’s time

Able to read and understand fabrication drawings, use basic measuring tools & perform basic cutting, grinding, fitting and fabrication work

Good welding workmanship and attention to details

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Willing work overtime when required
