SVR PORT AGENCIES(M) SDN BHD (A subsidiary of Seaboard) is seeking an Accounts Executive to manage day-to-day AP/AR activities in a marine engineering and repair environment.

The Accounts Executive is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations relating to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring accurate financial recording, timely payments and collections, and compliance with statutory and company requirements. The role supports the overall finance function through effective cash flow management, reconciliation processes, taxation compliance, and project costing activities within a marine engineering and repair environment.
Verify, process, and record supplier invoices, debit notes, credit notes, and payment vouchers accurately and in a timely manner.
Review and process employee expense claims in accordance with company policies and approved limits.
Prepare payment schedules and ensure timely payments to suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
Match supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery orders, and supporting documents prior to payment processing.
Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies to ensure completeness and accuracy of records.
Liaise with vendors and internal departments to resolve invoice disputes, payment issues, and account discrepancies.
Maintain proper filing and documentation of all AP transactions for audit and compliance purposes.
Generate and issue customer invoices for marine engineering services, ship repair works, anchorage services, maintenance projects, and other business activities.
Monitor customer accounts to ensure invoices are issued accurately and collections are received within agreed credit terms.
Follow up actively on outstanding debts through calls, emails, and correspondence to minimise ageing balances.
Prepare customer statements of accounts and perform regular reconciliations.
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, disputed invoices, and collection issues in coordination with relevant operational departments.
Prepare periodic ageing reports and highlight overdue accounts to Management, together with recommended recovery actions.
Support the assessment and monitoring of customer credit limits and payment behaviour.
Perform daily monitoring of cash balances and maintain adequate liquidity to support operational requirements.
Prepare and perform monthly bank reconciliations accurately and within reporting timelines.
Monitor incoming receipts and outgoing payments to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Assist in managing foreign currency transactions, exchange rate fluctuations, and related accounting entries.
Coordinate with banks on banking facilities, fund transfers, trade-related transactions, and other banking matters as required.
Maintain proper records of all banking transactions and supporting documentation.
Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
Assist in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger through timely reconciliations and review of account balances.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
Prepare schedules and supporting documents required for management reporting.
Assist in analysing financial information and investigating unusual variances.
Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory requirements, including Sales and Service Tax (SST), withholding tax, and other applicable regulations.
Prepare and submit tax-related schedules and supporting documentation within stipulated deadlines.
Assist in coordinating with external tax agents, auditors, and regulatory authorities during audits and reviews.
Maintain proper documentation to support statutory submissions and compliance requirements.
Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards, taxation regulations, and relevant financial legislation.
Assist in monitoring project and job costing for marine engineering, repair, maintenance, and anchorage operations.
Review project-related expenditures to ensure costs are captured accurately and allocated appropriately.
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Conduct variance analysis by comparing actual results against budgets and identify significant deviations.
Prepare and monitor sales reports by department and provide analysis to support Management decision-making.
Assist in tracking project profitability and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation.
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper filing of financial documents.
Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial information.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Undertake ad hoc assignments and finance-related duties as assigned by Management.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2–5 years of relevant working experience in accounting, preferably within marine, engineering, shipping, construction, or other project-based environments.
Fresh graduates will not be considered.
Proven hands-on experience in managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions independently.
Practical experience in general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
Good knowledge of Malaysian taxation requirements, including SST and withholding tax.
Experience in project costing, job costing, and budget monitoring is highly advantageous.
Exposure to multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange accounting will be an added advantage.
Experience liaising with auditors, tax agents, banks, and external stakeholders.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis functions).
Must have experience in SQL System.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities effectively.
