Responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations, and supporting the financial health of the organization. This role also manages inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial controls related to purchasing and sales activities.
Manage the daily operations of the accounting department.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
Maintain the general ledger and oversee journal entries and account reconciliations.
Analyse financial results and provide management with meaningful reports and recommendations.
Oversee inventory accounting and valuation.
Monitor inventory movements and reconcile inventory records with warehouse reports.
Review and analyse cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross profit margins.
Coordinate periodic inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
Monitor customer collections and supplier payments.
Ensure timely invoicing and payment processing.
Review aging reports and recommend actions to improve cash flow.
Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
Prepare and review tax filings, including indirect taxes and corporate income tax support schedules.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Maintain compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and analyse variances.
Support management with financial planning and business analysis.
Develop and maintain effective internal controls.
Improve accounting procedures and financial reporting processes.
Ensure proper authorization and documentation for financial transactions.
Support ERP/accounting system enhancements and process automation initiatives.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
Assign work, review performance, and provide coaching.
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Timely completion of monthly and annual financial close.
Accuracy of financial statements and reports.
Inventory reconciliation accuracy.
Reduction in aged receivables and overdue payables.
Compliance with tax and statutory filing deadlines.
Successful completion of internal and external audits.
Budget variance within approved targets.
Continuous improvement in accounting processes and internal controls.
