Senior Account Executive responsible for managing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and month-end/year-end closing activities. The role supports management by providing accurate financial information for business decision-making and requires the ability to work independently with strong accounting knowledge.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a full set of accounts including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and necessary adjustments.
- Generate Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Reports, Budget Reports, and other financial analyses.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process supplier invoices and payments accurately and timely.
- Monitor customer collections and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Ensure proper issuance of invoices, debit notes, and credit notes.
- Maintain aging reports and customer account reconciliations.
- Audit, Tax & Compliance:
- Assist in annual audit and tax matters.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documents required by auditors and tax agents.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Support SST, corporate tax, and other regulatory submissions where applicable.
- Payroll & Statutory Coordination:
- Coordinate with HR on payroll-related accounting entries and statutory payments.
- Verify and reconcile EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and PCB contributions.
- Ensure timely payment and accurate recording of statutory obligations.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and external parties when required.
- Monitor daily financial transactions including petty cash, expense claims, and stock-related transactions.
- Maintain proper accounting records and filing systems.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial documentation.
- Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- General & Ad Hoc Duties:
- Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, customers, auditors, banks, and government agencies.
- Provide support to management on financial matters and business performance.
- Perform ad hoc assignments and projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA) is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience; experience handling full set accounts independently.
- Industry experience in logistics, transportation, trading, or related industries is an added advantage.
- Proficient in AutoCount, SQL Accounting, or similar accounting software.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiar with Malaysian accounting practices and statutory requirements (SST, corporate tax, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB).
