Job summary

Saiyakaya in Malaysia is seeking a diligent junior accounting assistant to support daily operations, invoicing, reconciliations, and data entry. This role focuses on maintaining accurate records and assisting with accounts payable and receivable activities.

You'll contribute to monthly closings and costing activities, prepare cost estimates, and collaborate with purchasing, production, and sales teams to ensure cost data is up to date.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Accounting or related field.
• Fresh graduates encouraged; relevant experience is an advantage.
• Experience in accounting, costing, manufacturing, or related industries preferred.
• Proficient with Excel and MS Office; familiarity with accounting software is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily accounting operations.
• Prepare and process invoices, payment vouchers, receipts, and other accounting documents.
• Enter data and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Perform supplier and customer reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly closing and preparation of accounting reports.
• Maintain filing of financial documents and records.
• Provide support to the Accounts team as required.
• Costing: prepare and maintain product/job costing records.
• Calculate and update material, labour, production, and other costs.
• Assist in preparing quotations and cost estimates.
• Compare actual costs against estimates and highlight variances.

Compare actual costs against estimated costs and highlight significant variances.

Maintain accurate costing databases and supporting documentation.

Liaise with purchasing, production, sales, and other departments to obtain relevant costing information.

Assist in reviewing and updating costs based on changes in material prices and other factors.

Requirements

Diploma in Accounting or a related field.

Candidates with experience in accounting, costing, manufacturing, or related industries are preferred.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Familiarity with accounting software is an advantage.
