About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Account Assistant to join our finance team at Chao Shan Seafood Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Kulai, Johor. As an Account Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records and contributing to the smooth running of our financial processes. This position is essential to maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting our growing business operations in the seafood industry.

What you'll be doing

Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records and ledgers

Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports

Reconciling bank statements and clearing outstanding discrepancies

Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

Filing and organising financial documentation in a systematic and compliant manner

Assisting with general ledger reconciliation and balance sheet preparation

Processing employee expense claims and reimbursements

Supporting the senior accounting team with ad-hoc financial tasks and administrative duties

Ensuring compliance with company accounting policies and procedures

What we’re looking for

A minimum of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualification in accounting, finance, or related field

Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for accuracy and detail

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and general ledger practices

Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with team members

Integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information

Previous experience in an accounting role or accounts department is preferred but not essential

Familiarity with the seafood or food industry would be advantageous
