Job summary

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Chargeman A4 certificate or licence issued by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
• Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and fault-finding skills.
• Willing to work on a shift basis with adherence to safety procedures.
• Competent in using electrical testing tools and measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance of motors, transformers, switchgear and control panels.
• Collaborate with the Facilities Engineer to identify faults and determine corrective actions.
• Execute preventive maintenance programmes and respond to equipment failures as needed.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with safety procedures and LOTO practices.
• Assist with wiring, connections, and installation of electrical devices.
• Document maintenance work, inspections and test results for records.
• Support calibration and testing of electrical instruments and protective relays.

Job description

This role involves performing scheduled inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, switchgear and electrical control panels. You will work closely with the Facilities Engineer to identify electrical faults and determine suitable corrective actions, while executing preventive maintenance programmes and attending to equipment failures when required.

Key responsibilities

Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, switchgear and electrical control panels

Work closely with the Facilities Engineer to identify electrical faults and determine suitable corrective actions

Execute preventive maintenance programmes and attend to equipment failures when required

Ensure all electrical work is conducted safely in accordance with established procedures, including the proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices

Assist with electrical wiring, cable connections, jointing works and the installation of electrical devices

Observe equipment operating conditions, identify unusual performance and report any issues to the relevant personnel

Document maintenance work, inspection findings and test results accurately for record-keeping purposes

Support the inspection, calibration and functional testing of electrical instruments and protective relay systems

Provide technical assistance during urgent repair works, plant shutdowns and other maintenance operations

About you

Possess a valid Chargeman A4 certificate or licence issued by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga)

Possess good analytical thinking and the ability to identify and resolve electrical faults

Be prepared to work on a shift basis and comply with all established safety procedures

Be competent in handling electrical tools and testing devices, including insulation resistance testers, multimeters and other electrical measuring instruments
