Job summary

Fanatics Collectibles in Mexico City is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead design and delivery of scalable backend systems supporting Customer Experience, Trust & Safety, Fraud Prevention, and Financial Operations.

You will collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to build microservices, data pipelines, and robust CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across Fanatics’ global platforms.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years building backend services in high-traffic, distributed environments.
Deep knowledge of at least one major backend language and its ecosystem.
Experience with microservices, REST/GraphQL, queues, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
Experience with AWS/GCP.
Hands-on with containers, orchestration, and IaC.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and monitoring stacks.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

Lead design and implementation of scalable backend systems.
Partner with frontend engineers to expose clean APIs and data contracts.
Design robust CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
Lead microservices, event-driven workflows, and data pipelines.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and security for core systems.
Promote code quality, testing, and documentation best practices.
Conduct architecture reviews and mentor peers.
Drive major initiatives across payments, inventory, search, and real-time notifications.
Identify risks and coordinate cross-team deliveries.
Stay current on backend tech and cloud trends.
