We are currently seeking a Senior Airbags Engineer willing to relocate from Mexico to the USA or currently residing in the USA. This position requires an experienced professional in restraint system development. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will contribute to the growth of a high-performance team, combining their high skills in their respective fields with the company/industry standard to optimize their outcome, maintaining detailed and accessible development history, exposing their engineering judgments, while acting in a timely manner, possessing the ability to learn quickly and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements:

1. Develop various airbags and their integration in the vehicle across the whole product lifecycle: from system specification development, sourcing, packaging, drawing release, design validation, sub-system (1) integration, ramp-up, manufacturing support to post SOP maintenance.
2. Responsible for achieving product technical excellence as well as economical, timing, and quality targets.
3. Improve airbags commodity knowledge-based activities like teaching, feeding the guidelines and lessons-learned system, identifying needs for future platforms, etc.
4. Work closely with design studio, ergonomic, BIW, and interior engineering teams to develop the optimum restraint system packages for occupant protection performance and interior styling.
5. Manage Tier 1 suppliers for both engineering development and program timing. Function as the main point of contact for all restraint design supplier interfaces.
6. Manage validation plans and test labs for sub-system integration. Supervise and occasionally perform validation activities including parts deliveries, test preparation and execution, logistics, parts inventory, etc. Attend testing, analyze tests, report findings, and manage troubleshooting when needed.
7. Provide expertise on restraint system design to meet all vehicle targets (performance, cost, timing, weight, studio design, quality, manufacturing).
8. Support crash tests and vehicle homologation. Ensure parts are supplied with correct pedigrees for all crash test vehicles and other validation and homologation needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Willing to relocate from Mexico to the USA or currently residing in the USA (CA, MI, AZ).
2. Knowledge of the latest technological advancements in the field of airbags.
3. In-depth knowledge about the design and engineering of airbags.
4. 3+ years’ experience at automotive OEM and 2+ years’ experience at Tier 1 suppliers.
5. Knowledgeable about DFMEA or DRBFM processes.
6. Experience in program management.
7. Experience in testing (crash, airbag deployment, seats, IP, and/or upper trims).
8. Knowledge of automotive crashworthiness legislation and attributes.
9. Knowledge of CAE analysis (e.g., LS-Dyna) and restraint system integration and optimization.
10. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
