Job summary

Ford Mexico seeks a Restraints D&R Engineer to design, release, and manage costs for restraints components and systems on new and current vehicles.

Responsibilities include scheduling, releasing drawings and specifications, creating FM&A and DVP&R documents, and ensuring on-time supplier deliverables while coordinating with global teams. Travel to supplier sites and manufacturing locations in the US, Mexico, and Canada is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or Equivalent.
• Masters Degree in similar fields preferred.
• 3+ years as design and release engineer for restraints commodities.
• Knowledge of FMVSS, IIHS and related regulatory requirements.
• Experience with simulation and testing methodologies for restraints and safety systems.
• Strong program management and multitasking abilities.
• Willingness to travel to US, Mexico and Canada.

The Restraints D&R Engineer is responsible for the design and release and cost management of restraints components and systems for new and current vehicles including:

• Managing project timing, releasing drawings and engineering specifications.
• Creating specific FMA Documents, DVP&R, and quality documents.
• Part delivery on time for each program milestone.
• Tracking of supplier’s deliverables.

Commodities include Seatbelts, Airbags, Steering Wheels, Buckles, Height Adjusters, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or Equivalent.
• Masters Degree in similar fields preferred.
• 3+ years of experience working as a design and release Engineer for Restraints Commodities.
• Working knowledge of Regulatory and Public Domain Requirements including but not limited to FMVSS, IIHS, etc.
• Working Knowledge of simulation and testing methodologies for restraints and safety systems.
• Good program management skills with the ability to manage a number of assignments simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
• Experience leading multiple assignments with demanding timelines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Significant problem-solving skills demonstrated previously.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing and Assembly operations. Sharp focus on Quality and Cost management
• Travel will be required to supplier design & testing locations as well as to manufacturing locations in the US, Mexico and Canada.
