Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an IT Security Engineer to join the SOC in a hybrid role in Tijuana. You will monitor, detect, and respond to security threats across the IT infrastructure, ensuring data protection and continuous availability of critical systems.

You will analyze incidents, support containment, perform vulnerability testing, and help optimize security tools and policies in collaboration with onsite and remote teams. A strong security mindset and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Security or related field.
• 2-4 years of IT security or SOC experience.
• Experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk or LogRhythm.
• Understanding of security threats, incidents, and mitigations.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux, networking basics, and scripting is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM, IDS/IPS, and other tools.
• Analyze security incidents to determine nature, scope, and impact.
• Assist in incident response procedures and containment strategies.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on IT systems.
• Maintain and optimize security infrastructure (firewalls, AV, EDR).
• Contribute to security policies and procedures documentation.
• Stay informed about threats and trends in cybersecurity.
• Collaborate with IT teams to implement security recommendations.
• Participate in security awareness training initiatives.
• Support SOC operational capability improvements.
