Yanfeng is seeking a Sr Quality Engineer to ensure product and process quality within the assigned manufacturing area. You will lead problem-solving, drive corrective actions, and ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer CSRs.

You will work with cross-functional teams, monitor KPIs, support APQP/PPAP activities, and manage nonconforming material, field issues, and quality records to sustain continuous improvement in automotive manufacturing.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • 1–3 years in Quality Engineering, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience with CSRs and customer quality portals is a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Drive problem-solving and corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead customer complaint resolution and ensure CA/PA implementation.
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure compliance with QMS (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Coordinate APQP activities for new products and changes.
  • Prepare PPAP documentation and manage product/process validations.
  • Maintain quality records and documentation for QMS audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production and engineering.

Descripción del empleo

The Sr Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product and process quality within the assigned manufacturing area, while serving as a key point of contact for customer quality requirements. This role drives problem-solving activities, customer complaint resolution, quality performance, continuous improvement, and compliance with applicable quality management systems and customer-specific requirements.

The position works closely with cross-functional teams, production, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to ensure effective implementation of quality standards, controls, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Communicate product quality issues, engineering changes in coordination with the responsible departments, customer requirements, and applicable procedures to plant personnel, promoting a strong culture of quality and awareness throughout the organization.
  • Ensure the effective implementation and ongoing compliance with customer-specific requirements (CSRs).
  • Monitor assigned customer notifications, portals, and systems on a daily basis, ensuring timely response and follow-up to customer complaints, warranty claims, returns, scorecards, deviations, and other quality-related requirements.
  • Lead customer complaint resolution using structured problem-solving methodologies, ensuring effective implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of quality controls on the production floor, including:
  • Inspection routes.
  • First-piece inspection and approval.
  • Product and process audits.
  • Containment and segregation of nonconforming material.
  • Suspect material management and traceability.
  • Quality issue escalation.
  • Ensure compliance with and follow-up of the Control Plan for the assigned production area, verifying proper execution of defined controls and appropriate reaction plans for process deviations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and ensure daily compliance with key quality performance indicators (KPIs) for the assigned area.
  • Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, ensuring completion of quality deliverables during product launches and engineering changes.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for new products, engineering changes, and process modifications, ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate and follow up on product and process validation testing, dimensional studies, and new component release activities.
  • Ensure implementation and effective use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
  • Actively participate in product, process, system, and Layered Process Audits (LPA), ensuring timely implementation and closure of corrective actions resulting from audit findings.
  • Manage and follow up on nonconforming product, rework, concessions, deviations, and material disposition activities.
  • Maintain quality records, procedures, work instructions, Control Plans, PFMEAs, and other documentation applicable to the Quality Management System.
  • Implement and maintain local documentation and processes required to comply with international, global, and regional quality requirements, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, occupational health and safety requirements, ISO 14001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects focused on defect reduction, cost of poor quality (COPQ), waste reduction, and process variation reduction.
  • Establish and submit annual objectives in the HR Fusion system in alignment with department and plant KPIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and High-Performance Teams to analyze opportunities and optimize key performance indicators.
  • Immediately report and escal any unsafe condition, environmental risk, process deviation, or nonconforming product that could impact safety, the environment, product quality, or Quality Management System compliance, ensuring timely notification to the appropriate functions for containment and corrective action.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Preferred fields of study: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
  • 1–3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably in process quality, or in a similar quality-related position.
  • 1–3 years of experience in the automotive industry.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing facilities where climbing, lifting, or confined-space work may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with customer-specific requirements (CSRs).
  • Experience managing customer quality portals and systems.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Core Tools:
  • PPAP
  • APQP
  • Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies and quality tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, current version.
  • Product Audit experience or certification.
  • Layered Process Audit (LPA) experience or certification.
  • Experience interpreting and managing customer scorecards through customer portals.
  • Experience with customer requirements and quality systems for OEMs such as GM, Stellantis, Toyota, and Tesla, as well as internal/intercompany manufacturing sites
