Job summary

Amazon Transportation Services is seeking a Sr Automation Engineer to lead automation expansion across our Middle Mile network in Mexico. You will design material handling solutions including autosorters, conveyors, and vision-guided systems, and own deployment end-to-end.

This hands-on role requires CAD experience, strong analytics, and collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams. Based in Mexico with regular travel across the country and occasional international trips.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
• Strong technical background in automated material handling equipment.
• Experience working across cross-functional teams and with people at all levels.
• Speak, write, and read fluently in English.
• Strong analytical, data-driven approach with ability to quantify business impact.

Responsibilities

• Design material handling automation solutions autosorters, conveyors, vision-guided systems, and support infrastructure owning the technical solution end-to-end.
• Develop and support the business case, design, and deployment for automation initiatives, quantifying impact (CAPEX, ROI, throughput, labor, cycle time).
• Prepare specifications and technical detail that fully define requirements for building environment, equipment, material, process, and services.
• Produce and review technical documentation building layouts, traffic plans, flow diagrams, conveyor and equipment layouts, installation details, schedules, and budgets.
• Conduct value engineering / value analysis and provide hands-on technical input across cross-functional infrastructure projects.
• Own equipment implementation across multiple facilities, from planning through installation, commissioning, and handover.
• Work independently as the technical lead, coordinating directly with suppliers, project engineers, and contractors as needed.
