Job summary

Amazon Operations is seeking an Automation Engineer for the Mexico site. The role focuses on fault finding, troubleshooting, and improving control solutions for automated material handling equipment including conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, and HMI systems.

The engineer will train Technicians on device troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. The position requires hands-on fault diagnosis, system documentation, and collaboration with Global Controls to drive continuous improvement

Qualifications

Experience with PLC controlled automation in continuous processes or production.
2+ years of automated conveyor systems and controls experience.
Experience with material handling and storage systems estimation.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
Strong English-language communication (written and verbal).
Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

Serve as site SME for controls systems and sensors; monitor, fault-find, and repair to maximize equipment availability.
Train technicians on basic controller fault-finding and system basics.
Collaborate with Global Controls network to monitor MHE metrics and provide data visualizations.
Participate in continuous improvement projects coordinated by Global Controls.
Documentation of systems and maintenance of backup libraries with Global Controls and Operations teams.
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment across sites in the Mexico network.
Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and develop improvement strategies for code conformity.
