Job summary

Align Technology in Juarez, Mexico, seeks an experienced Controls/Automation Engineer to support ongoing production activities at the Juarez Plant #2. You will improve existing processes and develop new technologies, integrating manufacturing systems and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires strong PLC and vision system experience, with hands-on electrical/mechanical work and a focus on quality, reliability, and productivity.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology or any applicable Engineering discipline.
• 5-7 years relevant experience in Controls / Automation Engineering, or related field, is required.
• Strong PC Software programming experience in C ++, C Sharp, SQL Server in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on experience in programming, troubleshooting, modification and programs creation from cero with Rockwell/vision related tools.
• Experience with Fanuc Robotics, iRVision, Adept and Omron robots is preferred.
• Six Sigma training (Green Belt) is advantageous.
• Experience in FDA regulated environment is desirable.
• Optical engineering experience for vision applications is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Document, define, measure and improve existing manufacturing processes using Industry accepted Automation and Controls Engineering Techniques (PLCs, data base management, etc.).
• Document, define, measure and improve existing software validation processes using Industry accepted Automation and Controls Engineering Techniques (Unit Testing, Integration Testing, SQA, etc.).
• Ensure the use and application of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools are optimal in terms of quality and productivity.
• Research, define, develop, and implement new state of the art manufacturing processes, methods, and technologies.
• Integrate and automate existing manufacturing systems and processes.
• Implement and champion continuous process improvement methodologies and techniques.
• Understand process capability metrics and work with process engineers to improve operation performance from an Equipment/Controls/Automation perspective.
• Perform IQ, OQ, and PQ validations as needed due to Equipment and SW modifications and/or implementations.
• Mechanical/electrical equipment and software installation, qualification, validation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Improve equipment capacity, uptime efficiency, and reliability.
• Develop training courses and material for processes and equipment.
• Analyze and implement cost-effective equipment improvements and breakeven analyses.
• Maintain manufacturing process databases and troubleshoot as needed.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
• Comply with safety policies and participate in proactive team goals.
• Contribute to design processes for optical engineering for computer vision projects.
