MezTal is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join the accounting team supporting a U.S.-based client in the Senior Living industry. The ideal candidate has extensive AP cycle experience, exceptional English communication, and strong accounting proficiency.

This hybrid, full-time role is based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and requires collaboration with U.S. teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely payments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Experience managing the full accounts payable cycle is required.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and payment procedures.
• Advanced English proficiency, written and spoken, with U.S.-based teams in mind.
• Experience with U.S.-based companies or accounting teams is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle from invoice receipt to payment processing.
• Code and process vendor invoices with proper approvals and internal controls.
• Perform two-way and three-way matching when applicable.
• Prepare and process vendor payments ensuring timely transactions.
• Reconcile vendor statements and aging reports; resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and AP aging; support month-end close.
• Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries.
• Support month-end closing activities including accruals.

About The Opportunity

At MezTal, we are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join the accounting team of one of our U.S.-based clients in the Senior Living industry.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing the full accounts payable cycle, excellent English communication skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

This position requires someone who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate financial records, and collaborate effectively with U.S.-based teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt and verification through payment processing and reconciliation
• Review, code, and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with internal procedures
• Perform two-way and three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation, when applicable
• Prepare and process vendor payments, ensuring timely and accurate transactions
• Reconcile vendor statements and accounts payable balances, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Monitor outstanding invoices, payment deadlines, and AP aging reports
• Maintain accurate vendor records and support vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account balances
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including AP reconciliations, accruals, and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with established procedures
• Communicate regularly with U.S.-based stakeholders and internal teams to resolve payment issues and improve processes
• Identify opportunities to improve AP workflows, accuracy, and efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
• Previous experience managing the full accounts payable cycle (required)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and payment procedures
• Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate confidently with U.S.-based teams
• Previous experience working with U.S.-based companies or accounting teams (required)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, and reconciliations
• Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting accounts payable operations for multiple entities or locations
• Familiarity with U.S. accounting practices and US GAAP
• Experience with month-end closing activities, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
• Previous experience in the Senior Living, Healthcare, or Real Estate industries
• Experience identifying and implementing process improvements within accounts payable operations
