Job summary

HeadQuarters, a global start-up partnering with US cannabis companies, is seeking a Senior Accountant in a remote role based in Mexico. The role covers AP management, payroll processing, accruals, and month-end close, with flux analysis and cross-functional collaboration across HR, Procurement, and Operations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting, CPA preferred, and strong Excel and ERP systems experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience focused on AP, payroll, and month-end close.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
• Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP and payroll platforms; Excel proficiency required.
• English level B2+/C1.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable Management: review invoices and approvals for timely payments and policy compliance.
• Payroll Processing: record and reconcile payroll, ensure HR data accuracy, handle payroll tax filings.
• Expense & Accrual Accounting: manage PTO, bonuses, contractor expenses; reconcile accruals.
• Month-End Close and Flux Analysis: perform GL coding, reconciliations, and explain variances; meet close deadlines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with HR, Procurement, and Operations to report accurately.
• Process Improvement: identify automation opportunities to improve AP, payroll, and reporting.
