Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our client’s team. This role involves supporting client onboarding, managing accounting operations, preparing financial statements, reporting to clients, and assisting with Canadian tax preparation. The ideal candidate will have experience in a public accounting firm and be ready to take on a role with high visibility and growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive GAAP financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and accompanying notes
• Assist in preparing financial reporting, tax schedules, and Canadian tax returns (personal, corporate, or partnership)
• Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies or anomalies
• Provide insights on financial trends and operational metrics
• Prepare working paper files and documentation to support accounting and tax work
• Collaborate 25% of the time with the Investment Analyst to build financial models and conduct complex analysis for real estate investment opportunities in Canada and the U.S.

Requirements

• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• 2+ years of experience at a public accounting firm
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation
• Prior exposure to tax processes, with a willingness to learn Canadian tax regulations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting
• Comfortable with direct and clear communication

Nice to Have

• Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software
• Previous experience working with real estate, private equity, or small business owner clients
• Familiarity with Canadian personal or corporate tax preparation
• Exposure to investment modeling or financial analysis
