Siemens Energy seeks a Safety and Industrial Hygiene Coordinator for the Guanajuato plant. You will lead occupational safety and industrial hygiene programs to prevent injuries and incidents, coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, and Occupational Health to ensure strong field execution.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Environmental, Chemical, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in occupational safety and industrial hygiene within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican occupational safety and health regulations and STPS standards, including inspections or audits.
  • Experience with critical-risk programs, contractor safety, permit-to-work systems, LOTO, lifting, electrical safety, hot work, confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Knowledge of machine-safety risk assessment and safeguarding principles (NOM-004-STPS, ISO 12100, functional-safety/electrical-safety standards).
  • Experience investigating incidents, root-cause analysis, and safety performance indicators.
  • Strong field leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills; professional English proficiency.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead and continuously improve the plant's safety and industrial hygiene strategy across operations, projects, maintenance and contractor activities.
  • Coordinate critical-risk management for electrical safety and LOTO, lifting operations, working at heights, confined spaces, hot work and line breaking; verify field controls and stop work if unsafe.
  • Lead the machine-safety program across equipment life cycle including risk assessments, safeguarding concepts, and safety function validation.
  • Govern contractor safety and permit-to-work processes including prequalification, onboarding, risk assessments, field supervision, and escalation of non-compliance.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene programs for chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards including exposure assessments and monitoring plans.
  • Ensure compliance with STPS and corporate requirements; lead investigations and track safety indicators such as TRIR, LTIFR, and audit findings.

The Safety and Industrial Hygiene Coordinator leads the plant's occupational safety and industrial hygiene programs to prevent injuries, occupational illnesses, and high-potential events. The role coordinates operational safety, machine safety, critical-risk controls, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, and workplace exposure management across the Guanajuato plant. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, Occupational Health, Quality, and other functions, this position turns Zero Harm principles into reliable controls, visible field leadership, and measurable performance improvement.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and continuously improve the plant's occupational safety and industrial hygiene strategy, standards, procedures, and annual action plan, ensuring effective deployment across operations, projects, maintenance, and contractor activities.
  • Coordinate critical-risk management for electrical safety and LOTO, lifting operations, working at heights, confined spaces, hot work, line breaking, mobile equipment, and other high-risk activities; verify controls in the field and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
  • Lead the machine-safety program throughout the equipment life cycle, including risk assessments, safeguarding concepts, validation of safety functions, management of modifications, commissioning support, and closure of identified gaps.
  • Govern contractor safety and the permit-to-work process, including prequalification, onboarding, task risk assessments, field supervision, performance reviews, and escalation of repeated or serious non-compliance; coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, and response readiness.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene programs for chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards, including exposure assessments, monitoring plans, engineering and administrative controls, personal protective equipment, and collaboration with Occupational Health on medical-surveillance needs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable STPS and corporate requirements; lead incident and high-potential-event investigations, track corrective actions and safety indicators such as TRIR, LTIFR, severity, near misses, audit findings, and critical-control performance, and develop the Safety and Industrial Hygiene team.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Environmental, Chemical, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in occupational safety and industrial hygiene within a manufacturing environment, preferably in transformer manufacturing, heavy electrical equipment, or a comparable high-risk industrial operation; previous team-coordination experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican occupational safety and health regulations and STPS standards, including practical experience maintaining compliance evidence and leading regulatory inspections or audits.
  • Demonstrated experience with critical-risk programs, contractor safety, permit-to-work systems, LOTO, lifting, electrical safety, hot work, confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Practical knowledge of machine-safety risk assessment and safeguarding principles, including NOM-004-STPS, ISO 12100, and applicable functional-safety or electrical-safety standards.
  • Experience identifying and controlling industrial hygiene exposures, developing monitoring programs, interpreting technical studies, and implementing the hierarchy of controls.
  • Experience in incident investigation, root-cause analysis, Human and Organizational Performance principles, emergency preparedness, corrective-action management, and safety performance indicators.
  • Strong field leadership, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills; professional English proficiency and the ability to collaborate in an international environment.

About the Team

The Safety and Industrial Hygiene Coordinator will report directly to the EQS Manager at the Guanajuato plant and will lead the team responsible for operational safety, machine safety, and field execution of prevention programs. The role partners closely with Occupational Health while retaining accountability for workplace hazard identification, exposure controls, and industrial hygiene programs. It also works with the EQS Excellence team on management-system governance, regulatory tracking, training strategy, audits, and consolidated reporting, avoiding duplication while ensuring strong execution at the point of work.
