AgileEngine is recruiting a Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build, and maintain backend APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, and security. You will work with PostgreSQL, review code, and align API requirements with stakeholders. This is a remote role with a 4-hour overlap with MDT for LatAm candidates.

You will collaborate across teams, ensure reliable API services, and contribute to secure, well-tested Rails code in a dynamic, remote-friendly environment.

Formación

• 3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong command of API design patterns and Rails best practices.
• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols and JSON data structures.
• Experience with relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setup.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build, and maintain backend APIs for an existing or new backend service, working with a strong focus on API design patterns, performance, scalability, and security. You will write clean, well-tested Rails code against PostgreSQL databases, participate in code reviews and technical discussions, and collaborate with stakeholders to define and fulfill API requirements. The role is remote with a required 4-hour overlap with MDT for LatAm candidates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

MUST HAVES

• 3+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong command of API design patterns and best practices in Rails.
• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols and JSON data structures.
• Experience with relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setup.
• In terms of working hours: The role will mostly follow the LATAM time zone, with a required 4-hour overlap with Colorado (MDT). For Ukraine-based candidates, a minimum of 2-hour overlap with MDT is required — though the more overlap, the better.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with background job processing, e.g. Sidekiq.
• Familiarity with API documentation tools, e.g. Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Exposure to Docker or other container technologies.
• Experience working with distributed teams.
