Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Data API Engineer based in Mexico to enhance a PostgreSQL-powered Data API used by developers worldwide. You will contribute to PostgREST, working on database connectivity, query performance, and multitenant capabilities to deliver a scalable API.

You will join a globally distributed team, investigate issues, improve observability, and help resolve complex integration challenges while delivering a reliable developer experience.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience with Haskell and practical software development.
• Experience with the C programming language and systems-level code.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL.
• Experience debugging applications in Linux environments.
• A track record of contributing to open-source projects; experience maintaining an open-source project is an advantage.
• Experience providing technical support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to improve reliability of complex systems.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in an asynchronous environment.
• Proactive, ownership-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Improve database connectivity: work on the PostgreSQL driver used by PostgREST, built on Hasql, to optimize performance.
• Develop Data API capabilities by implementing new features and resolving bugs for a scalable, multitenant API.
• Enhance reliability and performance by diagnosing issues and improving stability.
• Strengthen observability with monitoring and diagnostics.
• Handle technical incidents and escalated support requests, reducing recurrence.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
• Support developers and users by communicating solutions clearly.
• Contribute to open source and share tools with the community.
• Drive continuous improvement of code quality, architecture, and developer experience.
