Job summary

Jobgether is partnering with a client seeking a Software Engineer – Storage in Mexico to design, build, and optimize a high-performance object storage platform. You will work across the stack—from client libraries to storage servers and CDNs—enabling scalable asset management for developers worldwide.

You will tackle distributed systems, upload reliability, caching, and observability while contributing to open-source projects and enhancing developer tooling.

Qualifications

• ≥5 years backend engineering experience, including operating Node.js applications.
• Experience designing, building, or operating highly scalable distributed systems.
• Comfort working across the technology stack, including backend dev and infra deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with PostgreSQL in production, including database tuning and troubleshooting.
• Ownership mindset, able to drive projects end-to-end from ideation to delivery.
• Strong focus on developer experience and building reliable tools for developers.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, asynchronous, globally distributed team environment.

Responsibilities

• Enhance storage capabilities and support open formats like Apache Iceberg and DuckLake.
• Optimize asset delivery to improve speed and performance for websites and mobile apps.
• Expand edge infrastructure to accelerate uploads and implement features like automatic cache invalidation.
• Improve storage server performance via monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Develop storage exploration tools with frontend collaboration for fast access.
• Improve APIs, libraries, and CLI tools for a seamless development workflow.
• Strengthen upload/download reliability across clients and environments.
• Contribute to open-source storage components and upstream projects.
• Address escalated issues and implement systemic improvements to prevent recurrences.
• Work across backend, infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and scaling as needed.
• Drive projects end-to-end from problem to deployment and ongoing improvement.
