Bodycote plc seeks a Quality Assurance leader to ensure QA alignment with management objectives. The role has authority to stop production on quality risks and nonconformities.

You will lead the Quality Department, ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001, and coordinate training across the organization. Required are a Bachelor's in Engineering and at least five years in Automotive Quality Control, with strong English communication for executive discussions and customer

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of five years in Automotive Quality Control.
  • Experience with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
  • Lead auditor experience is preferred (ISO 19011).
  • Proficient English for management meetings.

Summary:

Responsible for ensuring Quality Assurance in alignment with Management objectives, with the authority to stop production or process activities when risks or nonconformities are identified.

Essential Job Functions:

The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure customer and stakeholder satisfaction through strategic planning and a results-oriented approach to quality process activities.
  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the Quality Department.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards, customer-specific requirements, and internal policies through effective leadership, cross-functional coordination, risk analysis, and the allocation of appropriate resources to achieve Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Environmental objectives.
  • Monitor and manage customer satisfaction by tracking customer performance metrics related to quality, productivity, and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems and communicate performance results as required.
  • Identify, document, monitor, report, and control risks that may impact product quality, process performance, safety, environmental compliance, productivity, and key business performance indicators.
  • Promote effective communication and actively lead Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management System meetings.
  • Drive and demonstrate continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, environmental performance, quality, cost, and operational excellence.
  • Lead problem-solving activities and preventive actions related to key quality performance indicators.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources and efforts to ensure compliance with Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management System requirements.
  • Identify training needs and provide training related to the Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems throughout the organization.
  • Maintain and control Quality Management System manuals, procedures, documents, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to protect company infrastructure, equipment, customer property, and documented information.
  • Audit, monitor, develop, and maintain outsourced processes, when applicable, including supplier evaluations, review of certificates of conformity, and test reports.
  • Develop and maintain the internal audit system for organizational processes. Coordinate incoming inspections, final process inspections, and the issuance of certificates based on metallurgical data.
  • Establish standards to implement and promote Safety, Environmental, and 5S initiatives.
  • Promote continuous improvement ideas within the Quality team related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Environmental performance.
  • Lead by example in achieving Quality Management System objectives and key performance indicators related to Safety, Product Quality, Process Performance, QMS, and EMS.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Automotive Quality Control.

Language Skills:

English proficiency sufficient to effectively interact with management and executive leadership and participate in customer meetings and conference calls.

Job Competencies:
  • Ability to develop procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with process and product specifications and business objectives.
  • Ability to interpret and generate statistical data, including measurement system analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical standards.
Software Knowledge:
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Database management systems
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) software
Technical Knowledge:
  • Basic knowledge of Metallurgy (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor knowledge in accordance with ISO 19011.
  • Knowledge of APQP and PPAP methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of customer-specific quality requirements.
Physical and Mental Requirements:

The following physical and mental requirements are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Physical Requirements:
  • a) Ability to sit and stand for extended periods in both office and industrial environments.
  • b) Ability to use computer equipment for data entry and documentation.
  • c) Ability to bend, pull, push, reach, and perform similar physical movements.
  • d) Ability to lift between 10 and 25 kilograms (22–55 pounds).
  • e) Ability to work in environments with exposure to temperature variations, vapors, noise, humidity, and other industrial conditions.
  • f) Ability to read documents, view computer monitors and displays, and observe work activities.
  • g) Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Mental Requirements:
  • a) Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • b) Ability to apply sound judgment and cognitive skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
