The purchasing intern supports GM Purchasing Team by acting as the first point of contact for contract extensions, capacity management, metrics reporting, and expenditure tracking. This role ensures timely coordination with suppliers, Program Teams, buyers, and Conduent, while providing analytical support for commercial impacts, capacity readiness, and cost benchmarking. The position plays a key role in maintaining purchasing data accuracy and tracking program changes.
Act as the first point of contact from GM Purchasing to suppliers and Program Teams for contract extension requests. Assess contract extension requests to determine commercial or program impact. For impact cases, request and consolidate required information from suppliers (e.g., drivers of impact, 1804s, 1810s, supporting documentation). Perform initial analysis and provide input to buyers and the Commodity Team.

Maintain and update monthly expenditure files to reflect changes in part numbers, pricing, volumes, and sourcing status. Perform clean‑up and validation of Commodity Team (CT) expenditure data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Track Change Requests (CRs), program changes, EVs uplift, and related commercial impacts. Coordinate follow‑ups with buyers and cross‑functional teams to ensure timely closure and communication.
The purchasing intern will report directly to the CT Leader and indirectly to the Global Commodity Manager. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
