Job summary

Copeland is seeking an Automation Lead Engineer for our Chihuahua, Mexico facility. You will design and lead automation systems across production lines, standardize programming, and validate electrical and mechanical diagrams to ensure safe, efficient operations.

You will work with Maintenance, Production, Quality, and IT to apply best automation practices, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement. Travel 100% and strong English skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical/Mechatronic/Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron).
• Robot/Cobot programming and maintenance (ABB, FANUC, Staubli).
• Automatic screwdriver systems programming and maintenance.
• Experience with automatic dispensing systems.
• Experience with RFID palletized lines.
• 5+ years in a similar role.
• Proficient with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical hand tools.
• Knowledge of mainframe and Windows-based PC applications.
• Able to work with multifunctional teams.
• Travel availability (100%).
• Ability to speak English (70%).
• Experience with robotic and automated cells.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise automation system design including hardware and software.
• Set programming standards and databases for automated processes.
• Validate electrical & mechanical diagrams and specs.
• Assist in testing and evaluating new technologies.
• Identify spare parts and manage materials costs.
• Evaluate and approve equipment installations on the floor.
• Lead automation projects from concept through flawless launch.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Quality, IT teams.
• Manage automation CAPEX budget.
• Promote safety culture and train sustaining personnel.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement automated solutions.
