Mastercard is seeking a Mid-Senior Java Software Engineer in Mexico City to design and build scalable, cloud-ready microservices. You will contribute to architecture, ensure security, and support production systems while mentoring others.

You will work with Java, Spring, SpringBoot, JPA, Angular, and SQL in a fast-paced environment, focusing on reliability, observability, and performance across distributed services.

Formación

• Has ability to write secure code in Java and familiar with secure coding standards (OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management
• Efficient in Java, Spring, SpringBoot, JPA, Angular, SQL
• Understands basic engineering principles for mission critical software (security, operability, performance)
• Capable of debugging and troubleshooting core, heap, thread dumps to fix defects
• Follows Gitflow and peer review practices
• Experience leveraging AI tooling for efficiency and quality
• Practices test-driven and behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD)
• Understands design patterns (MVC, API gateway, DI, lazy loading) for robust code
• Shares API standards and cataloging to drive adoption
• Authors many small tests plus contract tests at service level

• Build modular, maintainable, and high-performance applications
• Design, execute, and maintain unit, functional, and integration tests
• Apply secure coding practices throughout the SDLC
• Participate in code reviews and uphold quality standards
• Support system performance, scalability, and reliability improvements
• Design applications with observability and operability in mind
• Research new technologies and conduct technical experimentation
• Troubleshoot production issues using root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver business solutions
