Job summary

Jobgether seeks an AI/ML Engineer based in Mexico for a fully remote, mission-driven role that develops practical AI systems for healthcare, agriculture, education, and international development. Qualifications

• Strong foundations in mathematics, deep learning, large language models (LLMs), and modern AI systems.
• At least 4 years of hands-on machine learning engineering experience delivering end-user AI products powered by deep learning.
• At least 1-2 years of experience building LLM-powered applications, including production-grade agents.
• Practical experience evaluating AI systems with dataset design, evaluation methodology, and performance measurement.
• Proficiency in Python and hands-on implementation.
• Fluency in prompting and context engineering for agentic systems.
• Experience with AI coding agents to produce high-quality work.
• Ability to read papers, test approaches, and iterate through experimentation.
• Strong first-principles thinking and user-focused design.
• Proactive ownership, attention to detail, and end-to-end delivery.
• Strong written and verbal communication for nonengineering audiences.
• Commitment to responsible AI development.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, evaluate, deploy, and improve ML systems and AI-powered apps for real-world use cases.
• Contribute to open-source AI evaluation infrastructure and tools for nonprofits.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate findings into reusable tools and playbooks.
• Develop evaluation methods, datasets, and measurable performance improvements.
• Build production-grade LLM applications and agentic systems with reliable performance.
• Release open-source innovations from partner projects when appropriate.
• Deliver solutions through rapid development and measurable feedback.
• Document decisions and maintain engineering standards for AI components.
• Monitor advances in applied AI and test promising approaches in practice.
• Mentor nonprofit staff and strengthen responsible AI practices.
