Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a qualified professional to support the Freight Audit and Payment (FAP) process. You will monitor third-party audits, ensure adherence to business rules, and proactively improve KPIs related to transportation invoices across JCI units.

Responsibilities include documenting rules, collaborating with BU Finance and logistics partners, and driving corrective actions where deficiencies are found, especially near month-end close.

Qualifications

• Advanced English is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Operations Management or related Logistics field.
• Minimum 5 years of Freight Audit and Payment experience.
• Experience with Transportation rates.
• Knowledge of Logistics industry: distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, import/export, supply chain management.

• Understand, maintain, and apply the FAP business rules in the audit process.
• Liaise with JCI Business Units to implement business rules in the FAP audit.
• Document and update business rules when changes occur.
• Reduce exceptions by improving tolerances and rate data in FAP.
• Collaborate with BU Finance, transportation providers, and plants on KPI measurement.
• Support Month-end Close with timely actions in Logistics operations.
• Build and monitor KPI metrics to improve FAP performance.

What you will do

This position is part of the team supporting the Freight Audit and Payment (FAP) activity for all JCI Business Units. The position will monitor and ensure the Third-Party Freight Audit and Payment (FAP) company is auditing transportation invoices according to JCI standards. Responsibility includes knowing the Business Rules (in relation to the Audit), and details related to the processing of the invoices. A metrics package for measuring the success of the FAP process will also be reviewed, with proactive analysis to improve the metrics and determine root causes.

How you will do it

• Understand, maintain, and enhance Trax financial audit.
• Review and monitor the FAP company concerning proper Business Controls and Audit procedures, and when deficiencies are discovered, follow through to ensure corrective action is taken, completed, and put in place.
• Liaise with JCI Business Units on understanding their specific Business Rules related to the invoice audit, and ensure these rules are implemented within the FAP company’s audit process
• Document the Business Rules related to the invoice audit, and when changes or additions are implemented, updating the documentation
• Reduce financial/rating/audit exceptions, which can include (but not limited to) building Tolerances, identifying missing carrier rates within FAP company, and other ways to enhance the rating process.
• Act quickly in urgent situations, especially related to Logistics Operations, or Business Unit concerns at Month end Close.
• Compile and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to ensure the FAP process is measured and take action to improve results.
• Foster daily collaboration between JCI internal business partners, transportation providers, transportation PBU leadership and plants.
• Build enhanced duplicate-checking rules
• Liaise with BU Finance teams on transportation expense

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Operations Management or related Logistics field.
• The candidate will have direct Freight Audit and Payment experience, with at least 5 years experience.
• Experience with Transportation rates.
• Thorough knowledge of the Logistics industry, with experience in some of the following:

• Distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, import/export, supply chain management.
