Job summary

Güdel Group Mexico seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, commission, and service automation equipment for our customers in Monterrey and beyond. You will troubleshoot electrical and software issues, reprogram control systems, and deliver on-site technical support by phone or email as needed.

You will work with project managers and engineering teams, travel up to 80% and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction while providing detailed service reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls and Automation Engineering or related field.
• 1–2+ years in industrial automation capital equipment manufacturing, integration, or field service.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and PC-based industrial automation tools.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and robotic motion control servo systems (ABB, Rockwell, Beckhoff, FANUC, Omron, Siemens 840D, Yaskawa‑Motoman).
• Strong relationship-building, collaborative mindset, ethical and self-motivated.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% and flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, launch and monitor the customer base.
• Troubleshoot, repair, reprogram, maintain, and improve production performance of equipment in the installed base.
• Carry out startups and commissioning of automation equipment.
• Identify and resolve electrical and software problems in the field.
• Offer technical support on site, as well as by phone, email or online.
• Make modifications to control software (PLCs, safety PLCs and HMIs).
• Offer on-site production support to reduce downtime and eliminate failures in automation systems.
• Supervise electrical installations in automation equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service, analyze system status and rectify faults; detect potential problems to avoid interruptions.
• Coordinate safety lockouts, machine requirements, and specifications with project managers, engineering, and customers.
• Document procedures, manuals and service reports with order and discipline.
• Carry out internal technical training for staff and end customers.
• Complete detailed service and expense reports accurately and promptly.
• Act with high efficiency and proactive attitude.
