Job summary

The Drafting Engineer at Hubbell Incorporated designs, tests, and documents electronic and embedded systems using CAD tools to create accurate transformer drawings. You will collaborate with mechanical and software engineers, sales, and production to transform concepts into 3-D models and 2-D drawings, while ensuring layout consistency and file control.

As part of a dynamic team, you’ll contribute to design improvements, manage engineering documentation, and support manufacturing and purchasing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• 2+ years of practical AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor experience.
• Experience with transformer manufacturing is desirable.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Contribute design modifications to improve product quality and function.
• Interact with mechanical/software engineers, sales, production, vendors and board houses.
• Create 3-D models and 2-D drawings for transformer product lines.
• Create detailed 2-D component and assembly drawings from customer/vendor drawings.
• Produce and revise drawings under engineer direction.
• Maintain drawing layout consistency per company standards and file drawings properly.
• Provide feedback to engineers on issues or questions in progress.
• Resolve drawing-related manufacturing and purchasing issues with plant personnel.
• Analyze dimension requirements and apply tolerance specifications as required.
• Provide working copies of drawings to engineers and production personnel.
• Acquire data from catalogs, internet, and vendors to create models and drawings.
• Transform rough product designs into working models and documents.
• Utilize knowledge of machinery, engineering practices, math, materials and other sciences to complete drawings.
