Job description

Cross-border Procurement Associate is an entry-level position focused on training and professional development in cross-border procurement. This role also includes a strong sales component, requiring relationship building, carrier sourcing, negotiation, and customer-focused communication to support business growth and transportation solutions across international markets.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Call Cross-border carrier providers to fulfill commitments made to customers
• Negotiate rates
• Document and communicate offers
• Use discretion to book loads
• Use discretion to determine when to bring options above the notated Carrier Buy Rates to service our existing clients
• Obtain proper paperwork where applicable
• Develop and manage carrier portfolio of “owned cross-border carriers”
• Absorb and apply material learned in training
• Get accustomed to both internal and external TMS platforms
• Provide load coverage assistance for harder to cover lanes
• Generate carrier capacity for cross-border targeted lanes from BG’s internally built database, as well as other outside sources the Cross-border Procurement Associate has access to.
• High volume lanes

• Hit target KPI’s for call volumes, carrier files updated, loads booked
• Develop entry level cross-border freight broker sales and negotiation skills
• Follow proper carrier qualification (ORCA) and onboarding processes (RMIS)
• Build a sales portfolio from carrier cold calls
• Assist in developing and updating cross-border pricing
• Integrate carriers with tracking and booking automation platforms
• Communicate late deliveries and issue resolution when necessary
