Job summary

FORTNA is seeking a Controls Engineer to validate the design and functionality of upper-level controls for automated sortation systems. You will isolate and correct PLC/I/O issues using PLC/HMI feedback and basic electrical troubleshooting, under the guidance of Senior/Lead Controls Engineers.

Up to 75% travel to customer sites may be required. You will collaborate with Fortna team members, customers and vendors to ensure drawings, software, commissioning, validation and documentation are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or comparable.
• 2–4 years of experience in industrial controls environment.
• PLC programming (Rockwell Software required; Siemens/Schneider a plus).
• HMI Programming (FactoryTalk View or Ignition).
• Input/output device design, implementation and troubleshooting.
• Industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet, etc.).
• Low voltage electrical design and drawing creation.

Responsibilities

• Write and implement PLC code and integrate subsystems.
• Utilize HMI products such as Ignition, Wonderware, RSView, or FactoryTalk View.
• Implement PLC and HMI programs under supervision of Sr. Controls Engineers.
• Coordinate with team, customers, and vendors for design and execution phases.
• Review electrical designs and provide accurate as-built drawings for approval.
• Commission complex automated systems and support site engineering and testing.
• Assist with system commissioning efforts as required.
