Cognizant Consulting in Mexico is seeking a Consulting Manager – PMO, Portfolio Governance to lead portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and governance for client initiatives.

You will partner with Finance, Enterprise Architecture, and delivery teams to optimize demand, capacity, and value realization while guiding junior team members. The role is hybrid, based in Mexico with flexible office locations.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, IT, project management, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, PMO, or related disciplines.
• Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis.
• Proven ability to create executive-level dashboards and reports.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with knowledge of Agile and traditional delivery.

About the role

As a Consulting Manager – PMO, Portfolio Governance, you will make an impact by operating the portfolio management discipline that helps our client's Digital organization invest in the right initiatives, manage demand and capacity transparently, govern funding and delivery performance, and realize measurable business value from approved investments. You will be a valued member of the IT Governance / PMO & Portfolio Governance team and work collaboratively with the Director, PMO / Portfolio Governance, Finance, Enterprise Architecture, delivery teams, governance partners, and clients.

In this role, you will:

• Portfolio Planning & Investment Prioritization (30%) — Build and maintain the portfolio roadmap, initiative inventory, and planning calendar. Apply consistent prioritization criteria across strategic value, cost, risk, capacity, dependencies, and expected benefits. Prepare leadership decision materials that support transparent sequencing and trade-off discussions.

• Demand Management & Capacity Planning (20%) — Operate intake for new demand by capturing, qualifying, sizing, and staging requests through a consistent process. Produce demand and capacity views that identify resource constraints, skill gaps, timing conflicts, and delivery risks.

• Financial Governance & Forecasting (20%) — Manage portfolio budget visibility, funding requests, forecast updates, variance analysis, capital and operating expense tracking, and adherence to financial controls and approval thresholds. Partner with Finance and delivery owners to improve forecast accuracy and spend transparency.

• Portfolio Performance, Risk & Benefits Reporting (20%) — Monitor initiative health, delivery progress, financial performance, risks, issues, dependencies, and benefit realization. Prepare dashboards and executive reports that summarize portfolio performance, decisions needed, escalations, and strategic recommendations.

• Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement (10%) — Collaborate with business leaders, Finance, Enterprise Architecture, delivery teams, analysts, and governance partners to improve portfolio routines, tools, reporting standards, templates, and lessons learned. Provide guidance to portfolio analysts, project managers, and junior team members as needed.

What you must have to be considered

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, information technology, project management, or a related discipline, along with 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, PMO, strategic program delivery, finance, investment planning, business operations, or related disciplines.

• Experience supporting portfolio governance, intake management, prioritization, resource planning, financial tracking, executive reporting, or benefits tracking.

• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, business case development, variance management, capital planning, and cost-benefit analysis.

• Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to assess portfolio performance, delivery health, risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and financial trends, and translate complex portfolio, financial, and delivery information into clear insights, decision points, and leadership recommendations.

• Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and executive presentation skills, along with an understanding of Agile and traditional delivery methodologies.

These will help you succeed

• Manufacturing or global enterprise experience.

• Experience with ServiceNow SPM, Planview, Clarity, Jira Align, Microsoft Project, Power BI, Excel, or comparable portfolio, reporting, and collaboration tools.

• PMP, PfMP, PgMP, SAFe, ITIL, COBIT, or equivalent portfolio, project, governance, finance, or risk management certification.

• Experience supporting executive governance forums, portfolio review boards, annual planning cycles, or investment prioritization processes.
