Job summary

Openbank Mexico, the digital banking arm of Santander, seeks a CTO to lead and evolve the Core Banking and Digital Channels engineering organization. You will balance local market needs with global platform strategy, driving secure, scalable and compliant technology initiatives in a highly regulated environment.

You will partner with Product, Risk, and Ops to deliver high-quality banking technology, advance DevSecOps and CI/CD practices, and promote reusable, API-first solutions across Santander

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering and leadership of complex teams.
• Proven leadership across backend/core platforms and customer-facing digital channels.
• Experience delivering large-scale, mission-critical, highly available transactional systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, APIs, and modern practices.
• Experience in managing transformation, developer productivity, and software delivery quality.
• Ability to operate effectively in global matrix organizations and constrained resources.
• Experience in financial services or highly regulated industries; digital banking experience preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish and English with strong executive communication.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the engineering strategy for Openbank Mexico's core platforms, APIs, and Digital Channels.
• Lead engineering delivery from discovery to production, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
• Drive engineering excellence through CI/CD, DevSecOps, testing, observability, and release practices.
• Lead stakeholder management, translate priorities into roadmaps, and negotiate trade-offs with global teams.
• Oversee reliability, security, regulatory readiness, incident response, and disaster recovery planning.
• Develop engineering leaders and ensure scalable, modular solutions across Core and Channels.
• Collaborate with global technology leaders to reflect Mexican market requirements in platform roadmaps.
