Michael Page is seeking an Accounting Manager for a leading multinational manufacturing organization in Mexicali to strengthen accounting operations and controls. The role focuses on transforming the function, resolving legacy issues, and driving governance and standardization across the close process.

Responsibilities include GL ownership, balance sheet governance, tax compliance, and interaction with auditors and regulators.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• Experience leading accounting in manufacturing with IMMEX/macab maquiladora.
• Experience with audits, SOX, tax compliance and regulatory requirements.

• Lead the stabilization and transformation of the accounting function and governance.
• Own the General Ledger, balance sheet governance, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Ensure financial reporting accuracy under US GAAP and Mexican standards.
• Strengthen controls across inventory, manufacturing costs, assets, and intercompany.
• Lead VAT compliance and recovery, coordinating audits with authorities.
• Serve as contact for auditors, SOX teams and regulators, driving remediation.
• Identify opportunities for standardization, automation and improvement.
• Partner with Finance, Tax, Operations and Shared Services to improve processes.
• Coach and develop the accounting team; drive accountability and urgency.
• Balance short-term deliverables with long-term transformation goals.

Our client is a leading multinational manufacturing organization undergoing an important transformation within its finance function. The company is seeking a highly capable Accounting Manager to strengthen accounting operations, enhance controls, and drive long-term process stability. This role offers the opportunity to resolve complex accounting challenges and help build a best-in-class accounting function.

Job Description

• Lead the stabilization and transformation of the accounting function, addressing legacy issues and strengthening financial governance.
• Own the General Ledger, balance sheet governance, reconciliations, and monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and Mexican statutory requirements.
• Strengthen accounting controls across inventory, manufacturing costs, standard costing, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
• Lead VAT compliance and recovery activities, coordinating tax matters, audits, and interactions with authorities.
• Serve as the key accounting contact for internal and external auditors, SOX teams, and regulatory stakeholders, driving timely remediation of findings.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across accounting operations.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Tax, Operations, Supply Chain, and Shared Services to improve processes and accountability.
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability, collaboration, urgency, and continuous improvement.
• Balance short-term financial deliverables with long-term transformation and process stability objectives.

The Successful Applicant

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA, MBA, Master's degree, or equivalent certification is a plus.

Professional Experience

• Accounting leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with strong exposure to maquiladora/IMMEX operations.
• Proven track record resolving complex accounting issues and strengthening processes and controls.
• Experience with audits, SOX, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in multinational organizations and/or multi-entity environments; Shared Services exposure is a plus.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of General Ledger, financial close, reconciliations, and balance sheet governance.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and Mexican NIFs.
• Experience with IVA, tax compliance, and Mexican regulatory requirements.
• Advanced SAP and Excel skills.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
