Michael Page seeks a Lead Accounting professional for its Mexican entity in a highly regulated financial services setting. You will oversee GL, AP, AR, fixed assets and close processes, ensuring IFRS and Mexican GAAP compliance and managing regulatory reporting.

You will lead a local team, collaborate with regional and global finance, and partner with tax to ensure VAT and income tax compliance. Strong English and 10+ years in accounting are required.

Formación

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA certification (CPA / Contador Público) required.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience.

Responsabilidades

• Lead accounting operations for the Mexican entity inclusive of GL, AP, AR, fixed assets and close processes.
• Ensure compliance with Mexican GAAP (NIF), IFRS reporting requirements and tax regulations.
• Oversee regulatory reporting and relationships with authorities.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual closing and prepare financial statements.
• Mentor and develop local accounting team; support audits and internal controls.
• Collaborate with regional/global teams for consolidation and reporting.

Job Description

• Lead all accounting operations for the Mexican entity, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Financial Close.
• Ensure compliance with Mexican GAAP (NIF), IFRS reporting requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
• Oversee regulatory reporting obligations and relationships with relevant authorities.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Coordinate internal, external, and regulatory audits.
• Maintain strong internal controls and corporate governance standards.
• Partner with regional and global finance teams for consolidation and reporting activities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the local accounting team.
• Collaborate with tax stakeholders to support compliance with VAT, income tax, payroll taxes, and other statutory obligations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, systems, and controls.

The Successful Applicant

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA / Contador Público).
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.

Essential Experience

• Strong expertise in Mexican accounting standards (NIF), IFRS, and Mexican tax regulations.
• Proven experience within SOFOMs, banks, credit institutions, lending platforms, or other regulated financial services organizations.
• Hands-on exposure to regulatory reporting and audit processes.
• Experience managing accounting functions within multinational organizations.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, compliance frameworks, and corporate governance requirements.
• Advanced ERP knowledge and strong financial reporting capabilities.
• Demonstrated success leading accounting teams and improving processes within regulated environments.
