Job summary

ERM is seeking a Financial Controller in Milan to lead local financial controls and statutory reporting for Italian entities. You will partner with the GDC, auditors, and senior finance to ensure governance, compliance, and accurate financial insight.

The role focuses on statutory accounting, compliance, audits, and driving the finance transformation program within a multinational sustainability consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in financial controllership, accounting, audit, or finance management.
• Strong knowledge of Italian GAAP, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing external audits and regulatory relationships.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong Excel and ERP system experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive and oversee the overall financial controls environment.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and positions prepared by the GDC.
• Identify risks and opportunities within financial reporting and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Ensure adherence to ERM policies, controls, and accounting standards.
• Lead statutory accounting activities and ensure compliance with Italian regulations.
• Maintain oversight of local statutory books and reporting obligations.
• Support VAT and other local compliance requirements with specialist teams.
• Lead statutory, tax, and financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Provide accounting guidance on complex transactions and adjustments.
• Partner with GDC for accurate accounting and policy application.
• Collaborate with Finance Directors, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, HR, and operations.
• Deliver high-quality financial insight to support decision-making.
• Contribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
