Trinasolar ISBU is seeking a Senior PV & BESS Engineer to join the Italian Engineering Team. The role focuses on leading PV and battery storage project development, design validation, and regulatory compliance across multiple Italian projects.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage interfaces between PV, BESS, and grid connections, and ensure timely delivery from development through COD in a dynamic international context.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects (PV and BESS).
• Experience across full lifecycle from development to COD.
• Knowledge of permitting, land, grid connection and project readiness in Italy.
• Experience with grid connection processes in Italy (TERNA).
• Fluent Italian and English; additional European languages a plus.

We are currently looking for a Senior PV & BESS Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Italy

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of comprehensive project plans, defining objectives, budgets, schedules, resource allocations, and performance metrics.
• Own the technical scope of utility-scale PV and BESS projects, including component specification, design validation, system integration planning, and technical risk management.
• Drive and oversee technical reviews of engineering deliverables and supplier documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, contractual obligations, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Focus on permitting activities:
• 1. Review and validate executive design from development stage to ensure alignment with company standards, grid codes, and permitting conditions.
• 2.Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation measures.
• 3.Produce, coordinate or review preliminary studies and design documentation during development and execution phases.
• 4.Support MV/HV grid connection topics and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate and support RFQ/RFP processes, including preparation of technical specifications, scope of works, design criteria, technical clarifications, and evaluation of EPC, BOS/BOP contractors, and key equipment suppliers.
• Review conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering for PV and BESS projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, grid connection requirements, permits, construction feasibility, budget, and schedule.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams, clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supervise the design process and manage technical interfaces to ensure seamless integration between PV, BESS, substation, grid connection, and plant control systems.
• Support contract review activities, identifying technical risks, gaps, exclusions, interface responsibilities, warranties, performance requirements, and delivery obligations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role within utility-scale renewable energy projects, preferably involving both PV and BESS technologies.
• Proven experience supporting projects throughout the full lifecycle, from development (RtB) stage to COD.
• Good understanding of permitting, land, grid connection, and project readiness topics in Italian projects.
• Experience in dealing with third parties during permitting phase (PAS, AU) and secondary permitting in Italy.
• Experience with grid connection process with the Italian E-distribuzione and TERNA.
• Familiarity with international codes, standards, and regulations applicable to renewable energy projects (mainly Italy).
• Experience with PV and BESS design tools and engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Project, and MS Office.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Languages: Fluent Italian and English required; and/or other European languages would be considered an advantage.
