Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Java Engineer (Payments) based in Italy to own the design and delivery of secure, scalable payment platforms for global clients. You will work across architecture, APIs, and integrations, leveraging Java 21, Spring Boot, and modern cloud environments to build reliable financial systems.

You will lead technical decisions, mentor engineers, and help shape best practices while ensuring compliance, performance, and security.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Hands-on payments/fintech experience.
• Advanced Java and Spring expertise (Java 21+; Spring Boot).
• Experience with Kafka, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Hibernate/JPA.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications with Spring Boot across production deployments.
• Define service boundaries, data models, and integration patterns for complex components.
• Deliver payment platforms and integrations with external systems and providers.
• Ensure reliability, security, and regulatory compliance of applications.
• Build event-driven systems using Apache Kafka with idempotency and exactly-once semantics.
• Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and improve CI/CD, testing, and observability.
