Welyk invites a senior backend engineer to shape and own the most sensitive components of the payment platform, taking designs through production and orchestrating cross-service collaboration in a hybrid Milan setting.

You will tackle bank integrations, risk and fraud services, and contribute to robust testing, incident handling, and reliable deployment strategies while mentoring peers.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as a backend engineer on production systems.
• Experience designing complex systems or features as the main contributor.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of Java or similar languages, with a willingness to master Java.
• Fluent English

Responsabilités

• Design and evolve the most sensitive systems of the payment platform, owning them from design to production.
• Contribute to services for bank integrations, risk and fraud prevention, where performance and reliability matter.
• Lead technical analyses that span multiple services and produce high-quality documentation for stakeholders.
• Ensure quality through solid testing strategies and safe rollouts.
• Handle incidents and production issues with debugging, monitoring and clear communication.
• Help junior and mid-level engineers grow, share knowledge and take part in the team's technical decisions.
