Job summary

Generative Bionics S.r.l. is recruiting a Robotics Software Engineer to develop software building blocks for a humanoid robot platform. You’ll integrate control, sensing, AI, simulation, and deployment tooling, working closely with Robotics, AI, Electronics, and Mechanical teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on development near the robot, software testing in simulation and on hardware, and contributing to reliable, scalable platform software in a fast‑paced environment in Genova, Italy.

Qualifications

Strong programming in C++ and Python with version control.
Experience building, debugging, and maintaining non-trivial software systems.
Knowledge of software engineering practices: testing, debugging, and code reviews.
Hands-on with real systems and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Professional English proficiency.
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
Experience deploying software from development to real-world deployments.
Familiarity with robotics middleware and distributed frameworks (ROS 2, DDS, etc.).
Experience with Linux, embedded Linux, RTOS, and hardware interfaces (EtherCAT, CAN).
CI/CD, containers, deployment automation, and remote diagnostics.
Simulation/HIL testing, telemetry, and data replay experience.
Knowledge of cloud/edge computing and AI pipelines; teleoperation familiarity.
Cybersecurity basics for connected products.
Open-source contributions or robotics projects.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, test, and maintain software components for the humanoid robot platform.
Build interfaces and tooling linking control, sensors, actuators, perception, AI apps, teleoperation, simulation, and data collection.
Contribute to reliable configuration, startup, monitoring, logging, and diagnostic workflows.
Investigate and resolve integration issues across software, networking, electronics, and mechanical subsystems.
Develop automated tests and validation tools to improve platform reliability and reproducibility.
Support software releases, deployment, upgrades, and validation on lab robots and pilot systems.
Collaborate with Robotics, Controls, AI, Electronics, and Mechanical Eng teams on practical solutions.
Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to shared engineering standards and code reviews.
