Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Rolling Stock Engineering Department in Italy. The role supports a wide range of mechanical design activities, from requirement specs to assembly drawings, under supervision of Engineering Managers and Project Engineers.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in railway or complex industrial environments.
• Knowledge of railway regulations and standards.
• Experience with IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
• Proficient in mechanical CAD (CATIA or Creo).
• Knowledge of PLM systems (Windchill).

Responsibilities

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) for mechanical components.
• Analyze and assess technical documentation from suppliers.
• Prepare and verify mechanical installation/integration drawings/specifications.
• Conduct design reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
• Attend system stand-alone type tests and review test reports.
• Support manufacturing, testing and validation phases.
• Review design documentation with customers and suppliers.
• Prepare structural drawings for carbody shells and bogie frames.
• Prepare BOMs and layout drawings; ensure compliance with standards.
• Contribute to vehicle approval documentation and homologation support.
