Job summary

Nokia in Italy seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of pluggable modules for Optical Networks, delivering manufacturable assemblies from concept through fabrication and validation. You will collaborate with HW, Optical and Thermal teams, ensure form factor compliance and thermal dissipation, own test reports and component documentation, and coordinate across time zones with stakeholders.

This role requires strong design development and technical detailing, hands-on CREO CAD

Qualifications

• MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on CAD modeling experience (CREO preferred).
• Fluency in English.
• Availability to travel across Europe and Far East Asia.
• Strong design development and technical detailing capabilities.
• Experience with mechanical design for telecommunications equipment (nice to have).
• Experience in manufacturing-oriented design and verification.
• Cross-functional collaboration.
• Stakeholder communication across time zones.
• CAD modeling (CREO).
• Mechanical design of miniaturized components.
• Thermal simulations and design verification.

Responsibilities

In this role you will lead the mechanical design of pluggable modules for Nokia's Optical Networks portfolio. You will work within a pluggable design team to deliver coherent, manufacturable mechanical assemblies from concept through fabrication, testing and validation. You’ll collaborate with HW, Optical and Thermal teams and manufacturers to meet form factor and thermal requirements while ensuring quality documentation. This position offers exposure to a global, multi-disciplinary environment and the chance to influence products for AI-driven networks.
