Job summary

ABB E-mobility is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the evolution of the data platform and scale data capabilities across the organization. You will define technical foundations, governance standards and engineering practices that empower domain teams to build, own and operate trusted data products while accelerating data-driven decisions and AI adoption.

You will provide technical leadership across the data community, shaping architecture in a Data Mesh and embedding data contracts,

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related disciplines.
Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, including PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow and Databricks SQL.
Strong software engineering skills in Python and SQL, with production data pipelines experience.
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code and platform automation (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).
Strong understanding of data governance, security and access management in Azure/Databricks.

Responsibilities

Define and evolve the self-service data platform across domains.
Provide technical leadership on architecture for a federated Data Mesh.
Design and implement governance capabilities with data contracts, schema evolution and data quality controls.
Build and maintain engineering accelerators, templates, CI/CD frameworks, and developer tooling.
Own platform performance, reliability and cost optimization; ensure scalable data services.
