Job summary

MotorK is seeking a Data Staff Engineer to own the architecture, engineering practice and delivery of its data platform. This hands-on, build-and-lead role will let you design data models, pipelines and warehouse architecture while guiding a small team of two data engineers.

You inherit a real platform and a real team, and you are expected to raise the ceiling on both. You will lead end-to-end data modeling, define the target architecture, and push modern engineering practices across data

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to model and architect data platforms at scale.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses and modern tooling.
• Strong Python for data pipelines and tooling.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading engineers, through code reviews and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data modeling architecture across the platform.
• Define target architecture for data infrastructure and roadmap.
• Bring modern data engineering practices to design, build and govern data estate.
• Manage and optimize cloud data warehouse performance and cost.
• Design production pipelines with dbt, Airflow and Airbyte; write production Python.
• Architect batch and streaming use cases including Kafka.
• Lead and mentor a team of 2 data engineers; raise engineering standards.
• Partner with product, engineering and business stakeholders to deliver robust data solutions.
