Hotel La Palma in Capri is seeking a Junior Sommelier to join its wine-focused Food & Beverage team. You will support wine service, guide guests in pairings, and help maintain an impeccable wine program with passion and hospitality.

You will prepare wine stations for lunch and dinner, polish glassware, decant and serve wines, and assist with cellar organization, stock counts, and proper storage. A proactive learner mindset is essential.

Missions

As Junior Sommelier, you will contribute to delivering an exceptional wine experience by supporting the wine service and assisting guests in discovering wines that perfectly complement their dining journey. You will work closely with the wine team to ensure seamless operations, impeccable service standards, and the proper presentation and care of the wine collection.

Profile

As part of the Food & Beverage team, the Junior Sommelier supports the daily execution of wine service, ensuring that every interaction reflects the highest standards of professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality.

The role actively assists during lunch and dinner service by preparing wine stations, polishing and organizing glassware, decanting and serving wines according to established standards, and ensuring that all wine-related mise en place is properly set up prior to service. The Junior Sommelier also supports tableside wine presentation and contributes to creating meaningful conversations with guests about wine selections and pairings.

In addition to service responsibilities, the role assists with cellar organization, stock replenishment, inventory counts, stock rotation, delivery checks, and the proper storage of wines to maintain quality standards. The Junior Sommelier helps ensure accurate labeling, cleanliness, and overall organization of wine storage areas and service equipment.

The successful candidate is passionate about wine and eager to continuously expand their knowledge of grape varieties, wine regions, vintages, production methods, and food pairings. A proactive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn from experienced professionals are essential for success in this position.
