Job summary

RINA is seeking an Italy Stability Plan Approval Engineer to join the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division in Genova. You will review and approve stability-related documents, ensuring compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, IBC Code, and Class Rules for new builds, conversions and existing vessels.

The role requires experience with stability calculations, metacentric height, and familiarity with software like Maxsurf and NAPA. Strong English and Italian language skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in ship stability, design or marine operations with focus on stability approvals.
• Experience reviewing stability plans to SOLAS, MARPOL and class rules.
• Hands-on stability calculations for load-line, intact and damage stability.
• Bachelor's degree in Naval Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English and Italian.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve loadline assignments, intact & damage stability booklets per Class Rules.
• Provide guidance on load line, stability, ballast water management plans.
• Assess complex stability verification and proactive problem solving.
• Calculate with stability software (NAPA, Maxsurf) and other tools.
• Ensure compliance with IMO/IMO Conventions and Codes (SOLAS, MARPOL, IBC Code).
• Review stability verifications for diverse vessel types.
• Support project management tasks as assigned by the manager.
• Collaborate with team on stability criteria developments.
