e-GEOS, an ASI/Telespazio joint venture in Rome, is hiring a Geospatial Data Platform Engineer to help scale a large-scale SAR data processing pipeline. You will review architectures, optimize I/O, and extend the processing system with an eye toward production-grade reliability.

The role emphasizes Python development, HPC/cloud experience, and collaboration with scientists and external partners, with a clear growth path toward technical leadership. Hybrid working in IT - Roma location.

Competenze

• Up to 5 years of experience in software/systems engineering with data-intensive pipelines.
• Strong Python knowledge; understanding of C and performance-critical code is a plus.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Snakemake, Prefect, Airflow) and HPC/cloud environments.
• Solid fundamentals in software engineering practices (tests, version control, docs).
• Good written/oral English skills (B2 or higher).
• Nice to have geospatial/EO data experience and Dask/Xarray/Zarr familiarity.

Mansioni

• Review and assess architecture proposals for scalability and performance.
• Translate science requirements to engineering specifications and partners.
• Review code quality, tests, and documentation; monitor milestones and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain and extend the processing pipeline with growing architectural ownership.
• Optimize pipeline I/O and parallel/distributed processing for large-scale data.
• Develop monitoring and CI/CD enhancements; ensure reliability and quality.
