Leonardo S.p.A. is seeking an INSAR Geospatial Data Platform Engineer in Rome within the Chief Technological Innovation Office. You will review architectures, translate requirements between science and technical partners, and ensure code quality across a large-scale earth observation pipeline.

The role focuses on optimizing performance, enabling scalable, reliable data processing, and contributing to CI/CD practices while collaborating with domain scientists and engineers.

Competenze

• Up to 5 years in software/systems engineering, ideally with big data or data-intensive pipelines.
• Strong Python skills; comfortable reading and working with C.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Snakemake/Prefect/Airflow).
• Experience with HPC and cloud computing environments.
• Strong fundamentals: testing, version control, code review, documentation.
• Proven ownership and ability to learn quickly.
• Clear communication with engineers and domain scientists.
• Good written and spoken English (B2).
• Nice to have geospatial or Earth Observation data familiarity.

Mansioni

• Review and assess technical architecture proposals against requirements.
• Translate requirements between science teams and technical partners.
• Review code for quality, maintainability, test coverage, and docs.
• Track milestones and acceptance criteria incl. performance/non-functional aspects.
• Maintain, extend, and debug processing pipeline components.
• Optimize pipeline performance for large-scale data processing.
• Build pipeline- and resource-level monitoring.
• Collaborate to integrate data-quality checks in the pipeline.
• Contribute to CI/CD practices and reliability goals.
