Job summary

Generative Group is seeking a Principal Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership for the software engineering function as we build the next generation of AI products for laboratory automation. You will be responsible for product technical architecture and translating strategy into reliable delivery.

In collaboration with leaders across product, engineering, design, data and AI, you will align technical decisions with customer needs and the roadmap.

Qualifications

• Proven and established background in software engineering.
• Strong track record of architecting and delivering highly complex products.
• Experience leading small teams of Software Engineers.
• Practical use of AI and automation to improve engineering productivity.
• Technical leadership suited to fast-paced, high-expectation environments, balancing speed with quality.
• Clear communication, sound judgement and a strong sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership for the software engineering function and architecture.

• Lead and develop a team including Staff and Senior Staff engineers, ensuring high-quality delivery.
